DC EV charging offers a significant advantage over AC charging by delivering power directly to the vehicle’s battery, bypassing the onboard charger and enabling much faster charging speeds. This makes DC charging ideal for rapid top-ups, reducing downtime and making it especially beneficial for commercial EV fleets, long-distance travel or situations where quick turnaround is essential.

Multi-Source, DC priority power delivery.

The Sigenergy DC EV Charging Module intelligently draws power from solar panels, battery storage and the grid - either individually or in combination. It uses a shared DC bus to match voltages and dynamically combine current from each source to meet the EV’s charging demand in real time. This means your EV can be charged using blended inputs, such as solar and battery together, or even all three sources simultaneously -without interruption.

By default, the system prioritises solar energy to maximise self-consumption and reduce grid reliance. However, it also offers full flexibility to prioritise grid input when desired. You can configure charging schedules based on time-of-use tariffs to favour off-peak grid charging, preserve battery reserves by limiting discharge, or override solar input during periods of low generation or high demand.

This smart power management ensures consistent charging performance while allowing you to optimise energy use for cost savings, battery longevity or program participation such as Virtual Power Plants (VPPs). Whether you’re topping up daily with solar or scheduling overnight grid charging, the system adapts seamlessly to your preferences.

Unlike conventional AC chargers, this module connects directly to the system’s DC bus, reducing energy loss and improving overall efficiency. It supports dynamic power output that adjusts in real time to match available energy, typically in fine increments, for safe and efficient EV charging.

This makes it ideal for daily top-ups using surplus solar, scheduled charging during off-peak times, or partial charging from your home battery system. While the system can supplement EV charging from stored battery energy, it’s best suited for topping up rather than full EV charges.
