The Story

The Victron Global Link 520 (ASS030543020) is a 4G LTE-M connectivity device designed for off-grid energy solutions, providing essential connectivity and monitoring capabilities.

The Global Link 520 is a comprehensive solution for maintaining and operating off-grid energy systems, offering connectivity, monitoring, and control capabilities that are essential for modern off-grid living or travelling. The flexibility in its use cases makes it a versatile tool for different energy solutions.

LTE-M stands for Long Term Evolution Category M1, a type of cellular technology optimised for Internet of Things (IoT) devices. This connectivity is crucial for remote locations or for systems that are on the move, like in campervans.

Connectivity and Coverage

The built-in antenna ensures global coverage, allowing the device to connect to 4G towers worldwide. The device supports handovers and roaming, which is advantageous for moving vehicles.

Remote Management Portal

The Victron Remote Management (VRM) portal provides online access to your installation, allowing you to view the status of connected products, check energy history graphs, generate analytical reports, and set up automatic alarms for system issues.

Monitoring and Control

It has two communication ports, enabling you to connect up to two VE.Direct devices such as a BMV Battery Monitor or a MPPT Solar Charge Controller directly to Victron's Remote Management (VRM) portal. This setup allows for detailed monitoring and control of your energy system.

Subscription-Free Period

The purchase of the device includes five years of connectivity without the need for monthly fees or separate data bundles and SIM cards. This feature makes it a cost-effective solution for long-term use.

Support for RuuviTag Sensors

The Global Link 520 now supports RuuviTag temperature sensors, facilitating the monitoring of environmental parameters like temperature, humidity and air pressure. These sensors connect via Bluetooth and can be easily set up using the VictronConnect app.

Power Requirements and Accessories

The device requires a DC power supply ranging from 8 to 70 volts. An internal antenna is included, and an optional high-gain external antenna is available for enhanced reception in certain conditions.
